“Family-owned and serving Kansas City since 1983, CORNER CAFE built its original Riverside location on the belief that good food brings people together—a philosophy evidenced by the fireplace salvaged from the owners’ family farmhouse and the windmill from their father’s farm. Three locations now (Riverside, Liberty, and Independence) serve the kind of scratch comfort food—fried chicken, meatloaf, biscuits and gravy, house-made pies and cinnamon rolls—that spans every generation at the table.”
Reading those words reminded us why we started this journey more than four decades ago. While our restaurants have grown, our purpose has never changed: to create a place where families and friends can enjoy a great meal together.
A Tradition That Started in Riverside
When Corner Cafe first opened in Riverside, Missouri, in 1983, we wanted to create more than just another restaurant. We wanted to build a place that felt welcoming from the moment guests walked through the door.
Today, that same philosophy lives on. Whether you’re visiting us for breakfast before work, meeting friends for lunch, or bringing the family together for dinner, we want every visit to feel like coming home.
Comfort Food That Brings People Together
One thing hasn’t changed since 1983: our belief that great comfort food has a way of creating lasting memories.
Guests continue to gather around plates of crispy fried chicken, hearty meatloaf, buttery biscuits and sausage gravy, and scratch-made favorites that have become part of family traditions across the Kansas City area.
And no visit feels complete without stopping by the bakery for one of our famous cinnamon rolls or a slice of homemade pie. Those recipes have helped make Corner Cafe a destination for generations of guests looking for the comforting flavors they grew up with.
